Birthday Brunch

I had a very  enjoyable birthday brunch today at Rocksalt in Hawker.  It was lovely to have all six grandchildren, my three beautiful daughters and their husbands*, beloved ex and her husband, BFF and her partner A, and my friend and boss, M and her husband D.  There is a children’s playground in the shopping complex where the restaurant is so the children were able to be kept amused.

The food was delicious, (I had Eggs Benedict with Ham) and reasonably priced.  The only problem seemed to be the staff – they kept coming to our table with coffees asking if anyone had ordered them.  My eldest daughter went to school with the owner and he explained they they have only just started serving weekend breakfasts and the staff were all relatively new.  Unemployment in Canberra is quite low and there is always a problem getting good staff.

Returned home in time to see the Poms thoroughly routed in the 3rd cricket test.  Life doesn’t get much better.

* One son-in-law wasn’t present.  Last Friday, my youngest daughter and her hubby and 2 month old baby went to Sydney (their other children being farmed out to Nanna and Aunty K).  Son-in-law minded the baby between breast feeds while my daughter went to a Bon Jovi concert.  S-I-L stayed in Sydney so he could get to tonight’s concert while my daughter returned home yesterday with the baby.

Last night S-I-L went to the Star Casino and found himself on stage with a hypnotist.  Apparently S-I-L is quite embarrassed after giving birth on stage and then speaking to everyone in fluent Alien.  We’ll be asking for an encore at Christmas (Eve) dinner on Friday night. 🙂
